The Vanke Zhangyi Starlight Demonstration Zone in Chengdu draws inspiration from the flowing urban mountains and forests, expressing a poetic and modern garden landscape.

In the initial design phase, we deliberated on how the lighting environment could embody the original design concept of the architectural landscape and illuminate the value of lighting for the project itself.

The entire project is bathed in an understated, tranquil lighting that artfully shapes the spatial scene, skillfully emphasizing the nuanced differences in geometric textures through the interplay of light and shadow.

As one approaches the buildings, stars twinkle in the quiet of the night, guided by the pure U-shaped glass directing the way home. Illuminating the architectural voids through a gentle wash of light, the effect is reminiscent of sparkling starlight and the purity of moonlight enabled through various materials.

Entering the garden, a faint mist complements the soft lighting, creating a serene, warm atmosphere. Within the garden, subtle light elements in the form of dots and lines, gradually harmonious linear lights on the walls, ground-level guiding lights, and decorative embellishments collectively paint a wonderful picture.

By bathing the architectural walls in a gradient lighting effect, the ordered chaos of the walls is further highlighted, becoming a bright spot in the landscape in harmony with the misty forest.

Light transcends its role as a mere element; it is a highlight, a material, an indispensable presence in the spatial narrative.
